Honestly, in this case, it mainly stemmed from the dissenters' flawed and outdated knowledge. They probably couldn't believe that ice could do that. Attach that to investigators that feel like that they don't answer to Board members but to the Director of Investigations at worst, and their minds go conspiratorial, especially with the tense situation in the Middle East.

I honestly believe that, in their minds, they have to continue believing in it, otherwise they would have to deal with being partly responsible for the deaths of 24 people in Dryden.
